stow aways on lorries?

watching UK Border force and it got me wondering, if they find illegal imigrants stowing away on your lorry, but they are dead, can they fine you / arrest you?

They found 17 stow aways in the back of a freezer lorry after they had cut the padlock and got someone to glue it back together so the driver had no idea..
if he had stopped overnight or for a few days and they had all frozen to death would he still be fined or could he even be arrested..

following on from that thought, could you "fumigate" what you think is a lorry carrying nothing but furniture for example? maybe with carbon monoxide and claim that it was a faulty exhaust etc?

I think you'll find that the lorry driver is liable to be fined whether they are alive or not.
What the Border Force should do is turn up the power on the giant x ray machines they have at the channel ports. Give them a fatal dose of radiation, or microwave them a bit

Just re-read your post, Dunno if the lorry driver could be charged with the illegals death. Knowing this country, he'd probably get a few weeks community service. Unless he had a couple of packs of cigarettes over his limit , in which case he'd get life.

The real problem is with the foreign customs/border authorities.

If, for example...........The french, suspect a lorryload of illegals destined for Britain............they let it go on it's merry way.
I mean why wouldn't they...?????..........
If they 'discover' them on their soil...it's their problem.

Wouldn't be so bad, but the UK Border Force are based on the French side of the channel !!. French on our side, although I've yet to hear of an illegal immigrant trying to get back to the French side.

the French authorities are just glad to see the back of the illegals in Calais. Once they've left French soil it's not their problem anymore.
So much for EU laws that say that asylum seekers must ask the country they first arrive in for help. Most of them have trekked right across Europe to get to Calais.

When they find anyone they hand them to the french police who promptly remove them and release them after "PROCESSING" a few hours later to try again without any further penalty except the same "PROCESSING" EACH TIME

So....... similar to our authorities 'bailing' immigrants after a crime on our streets 'believing' they will turn up to court and not disappear.....rather than 'next morning' court appearance and instant deportation..?????

how much is scrap lead?
someone should start importing containers full of it ( to fool the x-rays ) and offer a way in for the immigrants.... then stick the containers on ships destined for afganistan or somewhere.. or just dump the containers in the channel with chains and a buoy attatched for collection 24 hours later..

Anyway they are allowed to stay under the 14 year rule anyway.

If they are detained it costs the taxpayer thousands in legal costs anyway.

Doesnt matter how long they been here, if you let them stay the message it sends out is ' head for the UK, if you hide long enough you can stay' - and we'll get even more. On the other hand if we ruthlessy hunt them out and throw them no matter what, they message will spread and they might stop coming then.
