Doors in house all match and a non standard size. About 100 yrs old

830x2020x35mm ish

Bathroom door is warped. Top right corner bows out by 30mm, enough to look odd.

I'm looking for a matching door, although, been trying to work out if it can be straightened. Cant find anything online about this, for solid doors, so guess it's not a thing people do, or, is cost effective to do so.

Apparently Californian sun will straighen a bowed hollow door in 30 mins...

Has anyone tried straightening a solid door?

Surely heat, moisture and pressure will do it. How much, and for how long is the question...

I have considered adjusting the door frame to be bowed as well, but, no.

You said it is a hundred years old so it will not be hollow, but panelled.

With a bowed panel door

check that the hinge screws are sound and will not pull out

stand next to it, with the bowed side bending away from you.

put your foot against the bottom

grab the top bowed corner

pull it until it cracks.

go round and see if it is now straight or if you need to pull it a bit more (it may spring back a bit when you let go)

the crack is just the old paint in the joints.

And get a good extractor fan that actually works, and use it.

Not tried a solid door but lying a door down bow side up and adding weight to the bow section or screwing the door down will remove a bow, sometimes using wet towels helps too

there is no actual way off telling what will happen
often you change the moisture content and the wood moves
in general older wood will be very very stable and strongly fight movement
but as said wet
then over twist the other way by perhaps 30-60% so 30mm would be an extra 10-20mm [40-50mm]twist the other way
its also worth checking the wall is not out off wynd requiring the frame to be leveled rather than the door

Given this a bash, it creaks, sheds paint, moves, then returns. Guessing its been bowed for a long time

Cracking idea

Yeah, thinking wait till summer, hot sun, wet towels, and a jig to slowly apply pressure to bend it back.
Previous owner of house has already amended the door frame / case to try and account for the bow.

Looks a bit willi wonka

I’ve never managed to straighten a warped door.....I’ve adjusted the closing laths to compensate but it still looks crap.
John :)

Steam for 3 hours and put in a 100 ton hydraulic press, leave for 24 hours.

Ok, not very practical I admit.

Take door off, use a long 4x2 on the long edge and a 2x2 across the middle.
Clamp both external edges until door bows opposite way, then rest a wet towel on the length of door, keep it wet for 24 hours, release clamps when dry.
Wait 24 hours then check if process needs repeating.
