Hi, I am trying to paint the dining room ceiling in my 1952 house and it's driving me mad! We removed the woodchip paper with no problems but underneath it the ceiling has been painted with what appears to be dark green gloss paint. I have tried to paint over this, but even after trialling 5 coats of matt emulsion the green comes through. I have tried Supercoat and PVA too just to see if that might work but no luck. As a last resort we have tried to scrape the paint off both with and without Nitromors but I think we'll still be chipping away til Christmas! I've never encountered paint like this before. Should I give up now and buy some ceiling paper or does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks!
