I just got my bathroom renovated and the shower has a very strange leak. Basically it slowly drips from the fixing plate that holds the extension rod. I have attached some images for you to see.

Anyone had an idea why this is happening? It was installed by a plumber, not me.

Thanks for any help!

That is weird as there is no water at that fitting. My guess would be that water is getting into the recess when you shower and then making it's way out afterwards.

If you look at the fitting it appears slightly misaligned with a gap at the top which would allow water to get in.

Adjustable height riser - the seals on the inner pipe are allowing water to pass when the shower is being used and it's then finding it's way up and out of the outer section where the lock is.

How old is the shower, if within a year or 2 then their warranty may cover it, might be a hard one to sell though the video shows what's going on quite clearly.

The shopwer is brand new, got it about 2 weeks ago. I contacted the vendor with photos and videos, so hopefully they find a solution.

what do you mean with "might be a hard one to sell though the video shows what's going on quite clearly."?

It leaks also when it's off though
Yes, that'll be the water left in the riser and shower head after being used, working it's way back down an then out under gravity.

It's quite clear to a pro what's going on but manufacturers use all sorts of - "not installed correctly, etc", excuses to get out of warranty claims. Has it being doing it from day one? I am surprised that the installer didn't spot it when testing

I believe it has from day one, yes. I too am a bit surprised the installer didn't catch it.

I'd maybe get the installer back, that may only need the riser pulled apart and some extra silicone grease applied to the O-rings.
