Stripping paint off old bakerlite door handles HELP

I'm having an Internal door profesionally stripped I have taken the Old bakerlite handles off, unfortunately they are covered with paint which people have put on over the years (why I don't know) just want to know the best way to stip this off?

Soak them in water with a drop of washing up liquid change the water from time to time might take a couple of days but it does work and no scraping damage.

Then polish them with Greygate polish - they'll look like new
