Hi all,

Hope someone can help.

I am putting a roof on a gazebo and am a bit stuck.

This is what I had planned on doing:

I have used 14mm thick T&G in place of the ply for a nicer internal finish:

I was then planning on doing a cedar shingle roof (prefer the look to asphalt), but am put off a little by having to apply a layer of min. 12mm ply/11mm OSB as i need to hit the rafters when fixing this down which are populated with nails for the T&G!

So I guess my questions are:

With a first layer of T&G, then I will lay some felt underlay, if I want cedar shingle will I HAVE to put down a layer of Ply/OSB - what is the thinnest I can get away with bearing in mind I will be fixing the shingles through the Ply/OSB and into the thin T&G?

What other options do I have other than resorting to asphalt?

I have seen 'Waney Board' - is this an option (do I still need Ply/OSB first)?

Any other suggestions to finish/improve would be appreciated.

Also...do regular DIY stores not sell Drip Edge?
