Stud partition insulation.

I've just blocked off a wall where a very usightly set of patio doors connected my kitchen to my living room, what the previous owner was thinking I'm not sure. Anyway I put up my stud work and then suddenly wondered whether it was the done think to place insulating batts between the plaster board. Any ideas
