we have just bought a house and there is a nightmare 70's style archway to make th eliving room dining room into one.We want to block the archway back up with a wall my husband has used th eterm studwall. Also knock the original door back in so as to make two seperate room again.
Any tips or do's or dont's!
The door we are knocking through has been filled in with plasterboard so no building work eg lentils needed as its the original doorway.

i would always use timber (don't like the wal in a box idea) make sure the timber is wide enough to accept adequate insulation and a lways use the thicker plasterboard not the 9 mm rubbish. I also screw the plasterboard to the wall with plasterboard screws. this stops the board from flexing and seeing the nail heads coming back through the plasterboard.

Hope this helps
