Hi

so i want to lay some solid wood flooring. I know i have to leave an expansion gap.
The house has carpet at the moment and skirting all around.
so the logical thing to do is leave a gap up to the skirting and put some beading around to cover the gap. But i hate that.
so i could reomove the skirting , lay the floor and replace the skirting.

But

is there an easy way to cut the skirting in situ thus enabling me to slide the flooring under.
is there some sort of tool that enable me to do this?

thanks

You could use a tool like the Fein or the Bosch PMF 180 or similar which will allow you to cut a small precise amount off the skirting.

In return can you tell me why you start your question using "so" as I see this more and more when it is totally redundant.

Was it common in some soap opera like "Neighbours " which has given us the rising intonation in a sentence so everything sounds like a question.

much better to remove the skirting completely and undercut the door frames
laying a floor with the skirting undercut is not possible unless your are expert as its very very difficult and so easy to get wrong

so in answer to your question LOL

I guess i used it because in my mind i was having a conversation and it was a question (albeit a rambling one)
