breezer

modern cars have engine managment systems.

if something is not right, a litlle light comes on.

do we all agree with that?

right now here is the question.

what happens if the fault light goes....faulty, how do you know? (it cant light the fault light becuse the fault light is the fault)

I have a modernish car, modern enough for an EMM anyway. The only fault lights on the dash however are

Temperature (engine)
Oil pressure
Handbrake
Various light conditions
Charging system

All of which operate independantly of the EMM.

So to answer your question, if theres a fault and the bulb didn't show it the bulb or bulb wiring system is dodgy.

On some cars the ECU fault light comes on for a moment when the ignition is first switched on - if your car stops doing this then you know the light is faulty.

Oh breezer this is an easy one.....................
Everytime you start your car at the time of starting it with the ing. key all the dash lights light up at the same time for 3-4 seconds. Therefore: thats when you will detect which of the bulbs have burnt out. Ten 4 and say hello to Blair for me.
