Phoned the water company as I was woken up by pipe noise. Now we have very high water pressure, noise and spluttering taps. They are sending someone round to check outside today. The guy on the phone said it could be a problem within our property though. My question, how does this cause higher pressure rather than lower. The guy on the phone did not know. I can ask a neighbour when they get up if theirs is bad too.

You could have air in the system, or be overheating the water (localised boiling). The latter would raise the pressure.

I doubt it is the water supplier's issue.

Thanks for that. If we have air in the system, how do we get it out? The boiling soounds more serious, how would I know?
