Hi,

Firstly, apologies for not using correct technical terms in this post - hopefully the photos attached will explain if my words don't!

This morning, I discovered a leak under the kitchen sink. When turning on the tap, the water leaks out of the pipe directly coming from the sink plughole. Nothing seems to have changed from when it was all installed so I can't understand why this is now leaking .The downward pipe simply "sits over" of the pipe goes into the loop - hence the leak coming from the gaps in the overlap. The plastic nuts do not tighten any further to seal this tight, however like I mentioned, this was always like this previously and there were no leaks.

Any ideas why this is happening, and more importantly what the best solution to sealing the gap is please?

Thanks

The 'nut' on that upper part, is cross threaded, so needs completely unscrewing. Under the nut, ought to be a circular 'rubber' seal, which you need to locate on the short section of pipe, put the pipe back in place, then tighten the nut onto the thread.

I suspect the rubber seal might have been washed down the pipe, so might be in the water trap - the U shaped pipe at the bottom.

If you cannot find the seal, all bets are off, you will need to buy new parts.

Thanks. It was actually two things wrong at once making it difficult to assess. The rubber seal in one connection was bend under into the pipe causing a leak from that point, but after further inspection - there was a small crack at the back of the u-bend pipe, which was leaking water at the same time. Replaced the whole thing and now no issues.
