Suitable cable to carry 240V 250mtrs??

Gary,
I sort of agree, but I'm not giving it as advice, I'm asking why it shouldn't be done when the mains fluctuates anyway, and we all have wildly varying mains voltages.

Can someone explain why?
...not just quote the regs verbatim... There must be a reason..

If your supply drops to its minimum - 216.2v and a given circuit exceeds its allowable 9.2v drop in voltage your connected equipment may fail to operate correctly.
