I'm looking to peg grass turf onto an earth slope which is on the boundary with another property. The earth slope is not continuous and is about 0.5m high slope, then about 30cm wide on a flat, then another 0.4m high slope.

Could I peg grass turf onto the whole earth slope? The roots from this turf would dig deep and hopefully keep slope stable. E.g. this 1m2 earth slope from travis perkins: https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/law...purpose-grass-turf-roll-1m2-rb000010/p/991266

Several companies manufacture grass stabilising systems/grids and below is a link to just one of them

Is it a sheltered spot?
A moss garden would be ideal if there's enough shade.

Well you don't state the actual gradient (aka slope) so hard to visualise, but this might be a low cost solution...

along with a box of U-pins

I used this to reinforce a lawn for light foot traffic and wheely-bins.

Slope is 45 degrees

Grass is fairly shallow-rooted. On its own it might be inadequate for holding back soil, particularly after heavy rain.
The slope is 1m wide, about 1m high, 45 degrees, east facing, on property boundary, with large shrubs at the top of the slope, gravel /bare soil at bottom of slope.

Could I use matts (like gravel matts) pinned into the slope and then the matt has grass embedded into it?

Should I use interlocking matts (like this https://www.outdoordesign.com.au/news-info/erosion-control-on-steep-slopes/3475.htm) when using grass turf on slopes?

That should work fine - do you plan to turf in one long roll up the slope or in two sections aligned with the level in the middle?
The slope is only about 1m on the diagonal (1m wide 1m high). Could I use a 1m wide turf roll sideways along the slope?

If you wanted to consider a more radical solution there's also this product, possibly as 2 or three terraces. To support the height, there are internal buttresses. I have used it for planters and border edging. I would use it again....
