I am thinking of erecting my own summerhouse as the plot is 15' x 10' and the preformed kit ones are expensive and possibly of cheapest materials.

First problem is a) cannot locate plans for summerhouses anywhere which leads to b) what timber I should use for the frame, walls, floors, etc. and c) a good source for windows and doors.

Any and all advice will be appreciated.

there are some "log cabins" about imported from Scandinavia (my local timber merchant sells them in kit form) and it would be hard to buy the materials for less.

they can allegedly be assembled over a weekend if you have a strong wife and don't let her slack.

I have no connection with them but his brochure shows www.logcabinsonline.co.uk

The doors and window frames are of lighter construction than the walls.

Whoa! Having trouble sleeping?! I take it the summer house was on your mind all night :D.

Yea, they can be expensive. Mine was over a grand for a 10X7 or something like that, but the materials were of quite substantial quality. It uses interlocking timber and it's really thick. The only problem is that it warps in the summer but then again, it's only been treated once during the 5 years we've had it; yea lol, too busy :(.

You mean the kits JohnD? Well it took my friend and his friend about 4 days to assemble a kit .

Anyway, if I were you, I'd price everything up 1st and make your plans. I've seen some blueprints online somewhere that could be useful.
