Hands up anybody who thinks that a company prepared to sell items as disgusting as that would on the other hand behave honourably regarding pricing and truthfulness in their advertising?

They are scum, and everything they do and say should be regarded in that light.

The ones sold in the USA run on 120v, the ones sold here run on 240v. Perhaps they have better insulation that costs more. Does the US price include tax? Where are they made and shipped from?

At the end of the day most electrics/electronics cost more here, but that does seem an excessive example.

Why not buy 2 from the US and wire them in series?

... and that figure (£150, plus ..., each) is almost exactly what you pay if you buy two in the UK ("buy one and get second for 50%")

Mind you, speaking of delivery, it's a bit of a cheek of them to charge the same (£9.99) for each one when someone buys two or more!

That's interesting, I've never had a reason to 'actually know' the USA supply but had always thought of it as 110V 60Hz. The auto transformer I have laying around which was originally supplied (from America) to run amateur radio kit has only a 115V tap.

But, and I have resisted the temptation to make it a very big but, a couple of years ago we installed a 15KVA battery backed invertor with a 2 phase O/P of 220V 60Hz for an American company in London. Off load it was set at 226V and fully loaded 218V (113 & 109V).

Obviously I have checked on line now though.
