Supplying power to a two gang switch

Im going to install a two gang light switch that will supply two seperate lights, can I simply loop the live feed from L1 in the swtich to the other L1 terminal to provide power to both lights, instead of running two power cables from the consumer unit?

Yes this is ok.
The loop you refer to is known in the trade as a 'strapper'

The strapper is the cable between two two way switches.

I dont think the link wire inside the switch has a name
