I wish to remove the chimney Breasts in the back room and back bedroom. As soon as the chimney enters the loft space it joins up with the front rooms chimney breast in an inverted y fashion so I cant put a gallows style bracket in the loft. Can the bracket be put in the the bedroom poking into the loft. The gallows would then be plasterboarded in. Is it ok just to have a 6mm plate or should I put in a steel lintel to support the front edge of the chimney stack?
The chimney breast is 400mm deep x800mm wide
