Support For Farmers

Brexiteers (including many farmers) should have thought about that before they decided to be the turkeys that voted for christmas ;)
Says the person that bought one way tickets to somewhere that wouldn’t have him. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

There was an opposition day debate in the house of commons this week focused on policy and financial support for British farmers.

The motion calls on the Government to take three immediate corrective steps:

Guarantee SFI Funding: Provide long-term funding guarantees to all eligible applicants who were locked out of the 22 September portal.

Scrap the Family Farm Tax: Fully reverse the damaging changes to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) to safeguard succession and capital investment on family farms.

Commit an additional £1 Billion Annually to ELMs: Provide an additional £1 billion per year to properly fund Environmental Land Management schemes, matching domestic demand and the true costs of environmental stewardship.

53 Libdems, 2 independents, 1 DUP and Jeremy Corbyn vote for.

279 Labour MPs voted against

The Conservatives, Reform and the Greens were all absent.

To find out why you should read the info on the government page...

Find out how the England Woodland Creation Offer (EWCO) can help you get money to create new woodland, for instance. They can p. and whistle about the Family Farm Tax but farmer's shouldn't consider themselves so special to avoid these necessary measures.

Exactly - why aren't labour dishing it out to farmers.
By the way it was never "EU funds" it was our tax money sent to the EU who then decided which of our farmers to give a tiny bit back to pay them not to grow anything. That is of course after the EU quangos have paid themselves for doing it ------- Barmy, flipin barmy.
Post Brexhit - People pay tax, it goes to the Treasury, the department in charge of agriculture makes a bid for it, government decides how it is used, they take off enough to pay the civil servants, and pay what’s due to the farmers. Barmy isn’t it.

Yes but still cheaper in running it than the never ending departments our money had to pass through in the EU - 10 departments with 20 chief executives and 40 deputies and 60 deputy assistants all doing nothing but justifying their jobs on the EU gravy train.. Glad we are out

I think farmers should get our support and government support. They look after and feed animals, work in fields all hours in all weathers and produce ingrediants for our food. Pretty important in my books.
Fine, if they're being paid to produce food. But the recent government schemes have paid them money only if they DON'T grow food, they have to grow wild flowers and seed mixes to feed wild birds that simply don't exist in most of the UK.

The Kinnock family got well over £10m from the EU after he failed as a never-elected Labour leader.

I suspect Burhman has his eye on a similar career for after he fails as a never-elected Labour leader too.

Snouts need troughs.
