I need to clean the windows, soffit and repair the guttering, all above the porch roof.

I don't think I can use a ladder from the ground as the base of the ladder will be too far away.

I would like to simply stand and also use my step ladder on the porch roof.

I'm not sure how it is constructed but I don't think it will be strong enough to support my weight by itself.

Therefore, should a plank of wood laid across the roof be enough to support my weight? Should it cover at least two edges of the roof if so?

Thanks very much and hope you can help.

Buy an extendable pole to do the cleaning?

Hire a cherry picker?

That roof doesn't look as if it could hold much weight to me, it's only window frames and glass supporting it.

For a step-ladder, I would use two planks, laid from side to side, so all four ladder feet were on the planks.

For a ladder, a single side to side plank would do, but with a screwed down timber batten, to prevent the ladder slipping off

Sheet of OSB will protect roof covering and allow s ladder onto it , easily strong enough .
