I am looking to have a 2m square glass skylight in the dead centre of my new 4m long, 3m wide extension.
I am having a flat roof with 6x2 joists running crossways at 400mm centres fixed to joist hangers.
What I'm concerned about is that for 2m I won't be able to have any joists. I will run double stringers at each side of the window but what more can I do to make sure that the roof is safe and sound and able to carry the sklyight? Or will that be enough? Should I "over-size" the joists to 8x2 or is that over egging the skylight?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks,
Marc
