How can I tell if a wall between my kitchen and dining room is a supporting wall?

The set up is a rectangle, which makes up the two rooms. If you imagine a sheet of lines A4. And the middle line is the wall in question (under one of the joists).

I feel that supporting that one joist would add nothing to the support of the first floor. Plus, the other side of the house is the lounge which is the sheet of A4 without the wall!!
 
Perhaps, make a sketch of your ground floor plan and a sketch of your first floor plan - they dont have to be to scale - and scan to here.
