Hi guys. I have recently moved into a repossessed property and I have noticed an issue :/ According to the surveyors report the roof was in working order with no issues.. My neighbour and I went into the attic to sort out the lighting and he noticed that some struts had been cut off, 4 pares of 2. What I'm wondering is this safe or do I need to get it sorted asap? I'm not sure how long it has been like this, could've been years or a few months. Also what would my options be with the surveyor? Obviously this was overlooked when he clearly said in the report that I paid for that there was no faults with the roof. Obviously there is! ;/ Compensation maybe?

Anyway here's a few pics:

Cheers guys.

Looks like a form of TRADA trussed roof common from the late-1940s to the '60s; these pre-dated the modern plate-nailed trusses.

And yes, the structure has been compromised; the pieces cut through form one of the main trusses which are essential structural elements. They provide support to the purlins and ceiling joists.

The surveyor has probably not wanted to get his suit dusty by getting into the loft.

The survey comment is brief, having just had one of these myself im guessing this was a home buyers survey? If so its unlikely the surveyor went into the loft, just stuck his head up there.
