I've a question about surveys for buying houses. We have a bungalow and recently sold it (in about a week!) When they had the survey they used one of the homebuyer people, I don't know the correct title, but he was not a qualified surveyor. Basically he told our buyers not to buy the house - no report, nothing. The estate agents tell us this bloke is notorious in not passing stuff and they try to get people to used the accredited qualified ones that are on their lists.
Anyway, he frightened off our buyers but we found another in a week or so and are waiting for the survey. Now the bit that caused the problem is that the bung doesn't sit level - it never has since we moved in eight years ago and was noted on our survey that we had done.
In fact, our rather ancient neighbour was there when the foundations went down and he noticed himself they weren't quite level so we know it hasn't subsided.
If you look at the radiator on the side of the house that is on the slope, you can see it is level - was put in level when it was built.
We are a bit worried about the survey although we have instructed the estate agents to refuse to let any one use the previous pratt. We have got our survey from eight years ago to give to the surveyor but what if he decides it's subsidence? We know it isnt.
