SVP needed?

We are having a new WC put in. The drain for it ties into the existing drainage for the house (under a manhole on the drive).

A friend has advised that we won't need a SVP for this new WC (ground floor) as there is already one in the house serving the upstairs WC. However, the upstairs WC is on a separate drain to the new WC (the pipes meet at the manhole junction I've mentioned). My knowledge of such things is limited, but the idea doesn't stack up in my mind.

Personal experience of this set up or opinions appreciated.

a friend has advised you, more like it's a friend doing it.
bc would of told you what you need to do
so get rid of him and get a proper builder who's knows the regs.

It depends how far and what drop it is to the main drainage, also if the WC is the only thing being connected.

New bog needs notification or self cert from competent plumber. Or at least one that has his water regs certificate.

I used the term 'friend' in a very loose way - it is in fact the builder! All work is being done under a building regs notice, so this should be picked up from what has been said.

I was just interested to get other opinions on his suggested approach and whether the new bog will actully work. There will be a wash hand basin connected up to the same soil pipe if that helps.

Easiest way is to ask the B C O how he wants it doing he has the final word !!!
