Sorry to ask a question that has been discussed many times. I am looking for advice on what size SWA I should bury to bring electricity to my shed.

I am going to run standard shed 13 Amp fused power tools, lighting and am going to have some external power sockets and external lighting.

There is going to be an 80 AMP RCD consumer unit with two 30, 1 16 and 1 6 Amp MCBs.

The shed is about 20M from the back of the house.

What sized SWA should I bury

Throw a 10mm in. 16mm if you can afford it - you only want to dig that trench once.

With a 16mm you could have a 63 amp protectiv device at the source. This would give the missus capacity for her hot tub / kiln / particle accellerator etc.

I'd go with the 16mm, it is highly unlikely that the cable will ever be at max demand but if it was 16mm SWA would handle it.
