Swapping 3 port Valve

B

Bodd

I'm an Plumbing & Heating installer. I have been asked by a friend to look at a heating system that is not working.

The system needs a new pump and 3 port. The 3 port that is in stalled is a Lifestyle. I'm wanting to swap it with a Honeywell.

Q is does anyone know of a web site that will tell me what wires go ware

on the Honeywell it's
White = Heating on
Grey =Hot water off
Orange = Boiler & pump live
Blue = Neutral
Green/yellow =Earth

But I believe the Lifestyle will be colour coded diffrent. I will come across this problem again with a diffrent brand of 3 port so it would be good to know of a site that could help.
if some one can tell me what colours match that would be very helpful.

Thanks Bod

I would send you one but it just comes back.

Send me an e I can reply too.

Lifestyle has a Brown to drive the motor. :rolleyes:
:eek:
If I hadn't known you, I would have asked: "are you sure?"
Another illusion shattered; I thought all motorised valves had uniform colour coding. :(

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to query that :rolleyes:

The ZA range can have 3, 5 or 6 wires, byt the MA range is standard wiring.

I didn't, I didn't. I didn't question your knowledge on this.
Honest guv.

Not an expert on valves, still need to look at the diagram whenever I need to work on them. :oops:
Must admit that I was quite convinced colours were uniform.
Always one that has to be different. :rolleyes:

one thing is for sure YOU CAN'T

Ahem.....No power (on valve) = HW only
(port B open).
240V on white wire = HW + CH
(mid position)
240V on white & grey wires = CH only
(port A open)
+ 240V output on orange wire
240V in grey wire = valve hold in
last position
+ approx 100V output on orange wire.

Ta . ;)
