Switch live

How do I identify the switch live cable on this rose light. Is it the red arrow I have placed? If so shouldn’t the wire be sleeved brown?

yep, should be sleeved brown

just a DIYer - but never seen it sleeved correctly in any of the properties i have looked at , either in the switch or the rose - either brown - new colours or Red old colours

Switched Line

The Brown in the same sheath as that Blue will be the Switch Line; i.e. the Permanent Line supply to the switch.

Thanks. So if they weren’t connected to the rose and just all hanging loose how would you identify which one is which?

with a multimeter, and looking at which twin&earth it was part of
can be difficult
have a look at the forums - loads of questions exactly like that with photos of wires hanging out ceiling

You have a feed in, feed out and switch wire.

Check the other thread i just explained to someone how to find the switch wire.

You can do it by trial and error if you disconnect the cable at the switch.
