I will be away for a while over the next couple of weeks and wanted to turn off the water just in case we get a late cold snap.

But I wanted to leave the CH to come on only if it gets very cold...turning off water at the mains doesn't affect a combi's operation does it?

It'll be fine as long as you're not actually draining your cold mains or hot water

not sure what you mean. But only heating would be used not hot or cold water
