Hi

Sorry, I also meant to ask in my last post - where do you switch off the water-in for the cistern in your house.
I have adjusted 5 valves in my hot press and two of these switch off the sink and shower independently, but none appear to stop the cistern from 'attempting' to refill.
Would it be in my attic, or outside the house?

Sorry, but I'm very very new to all of this!

Thanks

Dave

dave in an ideal world you would have isolation valves to each appliance, like the loo or your sink/bath taps. they turn off locally usually with a screwdriver in a slot that turns 90 degrees. when you dont have this youre looking for your stopcock, generally under the sink or in the loo at the front of the house where the water comes into the house. turn that off and when you flush the loo no water should come in to the cistern
