Hello everyone,

I have an Ariston System EVO 24 for my central heating. It is 10 years old now, but on the whole functions quite well. Over the last couple of weeks, it has been losing pressure when off, some when on too, but mainly overnight when it is off. I have been topping it up to 1.5 bar last thing at night so it would be ok for the morning. As a test, I let the boiler cool down and put the condensate pipe in a bucket and collected the water from the cold boiler overnight. This led me to believe it was the heat exchanger. My gas engineer agreed and I began looking for a new boiler as the part alone was too expensive. However, I had a radiator changed to a towel rail and the plumber topped up my system to fill the new towel rail. That was last Friday and four days later the pressure in my boiler has not dropped at all!

I don't understand why this is the case when everything pointed to the heat exchanger. There are no apparent leaks anywhere else in the system.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Update - Pressure dropping again. New boiler it is then!
