Hello.

When I turn on the hot water tap in a morning I here a noise that sounds a bit like a trombone going up in pitch. It just lasts a second or two.

Has anyone an idea what it might be?

cheers,

chris

Water bubbles tend to accumulate when the water's heated, and cos they're springy, they let the pipes reverberate.

Clips the pipes better, add an auto air vent, add a shock arrester.....

Sounds like a worn tap washer, is it a 90 degree on off or do you have to turn the tap several revolutions, several revs I'd bet ! tap washer.

Before making any suggestions, I would be asking where your hot water supply comes from!

For all I know you may have a lodger who plays trombone in an orchestra and he is having a joke on you!

Starts a few seconds after turning tap on.?
The most likely cause is a worn ball valve on the tank feeding the hot water tap change that. Very common

That would be when the trombone playing lodger has gone off to work!
