T beam steel fitted and boarded , cracking issues

So we had a wall taken out between a kitchen and a dining room , it required a steel running the width of the house and where the wall meets a steel to t into this. ( See the pictures) .

I noticed some hair line cracks to the brick above the padstone and down the right of the padstone , the brick above was actually completely loose. The same with the other padstone on the nib however the bit above / to the side is so packed with steel that it's in there tight.

I have recently dumped some morter around it however I have not drilled any out etc , so the mortor I put in is clearly just cosmetic/ packed it so the block doesn't move. I need to clarify the padstones don't move or rock at all. I'm just concerned as these cracks only appeared after the plaster was whacking his bits of wood in the h steel ready for boarding.

I have sought advice from a few builders and said it's fine it's more the downward pressure u need to be concerned about. I'm just worried the mix the builders used is garbage . Any ideas what I should do ?

So I just measured the 2 padstones on the nibs 1 is 160 mm in the other is 160 mm in, building control have signed it off
