Hi,

I am trying to plan the layout for our new kitchen and am having trouble finding the ideal unit.

Problem is, we have a recess in a corner 900mm wide and 500mm deep.

Ikea, do a 900x900mm corner base unit that will fit perfect. However, ideally we would like to fit a tall corner unit here to hide the vacuum and ironing board so don't need the carousel type shelves inside - but none of the cabinet suppliers we have seen do such a thing.

Does anyone know if anyone of the suppliers does an 'off the shelf ' tall corner unit?

Thanks

The normal way to do this is to stack 2 (or more) cabinets. The real issue is the door arrangement; not a problem really ... 2 cabinets = 2 doors high. You fashion 1 tall door from 2 shorter ones; cowboy kitchen installers will secure the doors together with steel plates screwed to the backs of the doors (yuk!!). The 'correct' method is the join them with biscuits or tongues let into the meeting edges or they could be dowelled.

Obviously, you remove the 'floor' of the top cab and the ceiling of the bottom cab to create the tall cupboard. The simplest way to join the meeting edges is with dowels.
