I have a very tall pine with the trunk about 3 inches from a shed roof overhang. In yesterdays fearsome winds it has rubbed on the felt side, scraping it off about 3 inches by 1 inch.
I realize this was an unusual wind but, to stop in future, should I:
Shave a piece out of the tree trunk or
Cut a small piece from the roof edge (felt roof) and re-seal.
The tree is about 30 feet high and I would be loathe to fell it.
