Tank Stand in a Trussed Roof

From the time my house was built there has been a redundant tank stand cutting across the useable loft space at an inconvenient height! (Aviation geeks, think Lancaster main spar!) It's not part of the original trusses, it was added after the roof was set.

I'm tidying the loft and clearing 25 years of rubbish that we 'can't possibly throw out', and wonder if I can just cut the tank stand out.

Wouldn't want my roof to bow in at the middle!

I assume it sits on bearers on top of the bottoms truss chords?

Shouldn't be doing anything structural as long as you don't cut through the chords themselves!
