Tanking around shower outlet

I’m fitting a concealed shower and can’t work out how this outlet will work with the tanking. I’ve done this a fair bit with bar type shower mixers, and I’m used to sealing the tanking around the 2x 15mm pipes sticking out the wall with bar mixers, but for this one it looks like there’s just going to be a hole drilled through the tiles and tanking? Or can I mount the wall plate elbow so it’s flush with the wall and tank up to it? Hope the question makes sense, cheers.

Install it in position and have strong batten behind.

Then add backer board/elements board to the wall. With the connector flush with the face. Seal around the connector with silicone.

Then tank as normal

Tile the wall.

Fit the shower attachment, using loctite 55 thread. Seal behind with silicone.

You won't use the backnut in your case. And you may need to cut the threaded brass bar down to length to fit inside the connector.

I’m also thinking of tanking the walls first then putting the tray in and siliconing it to the tanked wall. This seems easier than masking it off like I’ve done in the past.

I like to lap the tanking tape slightly onto the edges of the tray, but yeah it's tricky

Seen those elbows snap at the screw holes which are weak .
