Hi,
i've read some very useful posts by Micilin on this subject so i thought he might be able to help, put any other good advice is also welcome!
I want to tank a wall up to 1.2 metres or so after having damp problems. The major source of the damp has been taken care of however i still want to insure against rising damp, and salts in the walls.
The walls are solid with no DPC. It seems to successfully tank i'd be best cutting the screed back 300mm and lapping the tanking onto that. At the minute there is 20mm polysterene insulation under the screed with a polythene dpm under that, and then the subfloor.
So do i cut the polythene off with the screed, then brush sbr onto the wall, onto the subfloor and over the freshly cut edge of the old screed and dpm?
Will that give a reliable seal where the sbr meets the edge of the old polythene dpm - is that how it's done?
What about replacing the insulation? I would like to have used 25mm kingspan, but does that work? Sbr, then lay down the strip of kingspan and then screed over?
I'd also like to have put a strip of kingspan against the wall as a thermal break between the screed and wall but i don't think that'll work with tanking will it?
Sorry for the long post
Thanks
