Technics seperates volume problems

I have a set of technics seperates which I have not use for a month or two, apart from having the radio on maybe once a week.
Everything is ok apart from when I go to use my cd player tonight there is hardly any volume. Switch to the radio and its absolutely fine, switch back to the cd player and its so low its annoying. I have to turn the volume right up just to hear ita tiny bit, does anyone have any ideas what my problem could be?
The sound that comes from these seperates is awesome and I am just gutted I may have to buy something else.
If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it, kind regards Paul...

Chuck all that carp in the bin, get yourself on ebay and buy some proper gear!

Presumably (if it has one) the 'tape monitor' switch is turned off?
