tecnik built in oven keeps going off when hot, could this be a faulty thermostat ??? it would come back on when cooled down, now has gone and struggles to work
Some built in ovens have a fan under the top behind the controls to keep them from over heating, this fan can fail in some way causing a thermal cut out to operate to prevent damage to the controls etc in the top.
Usually there are slots below the control panel and above the oven door where the air is blown out if a fan is fitted.
when the oven does come on the fan is operating, but when certain temp is gained the oven cuts out.allow oven to cool or raise temp for light to come back on it works until that temp gained....thats why i`m thinking thermostat...................help
In case you are, I was not talking about the fan in the back of the oven.
The cooling fan blows air out of slots above the door when the door is shut, it usually carrys on running after the oven is switched off for a short period.
Failed thermostats typically do not switch off so cause the oven to overheat.
Is the thermostat bulb still fitted correctly inside the oven, if it has moved or as I have seen in some cases touching the element it will switch off before reaching the correct temperature.
As a side note the oven temp light will come on and off as the oven heats and reaches the temperature it is set to. You can try a separate oven temp thermometer and switch the oven on running it up in steps 50C, 100C, 150C etc and see if it switches off at about the right temps.
I would guess as leccy758, the thermal cut out is doing its job or has broke.
A replacement should not cost much & as long as you can remove the control panel, not difficult to change
both fans are working, the circulation fan at back turns when oven turned on, the cooler fan operates with the air coming out of slots at top off door, will have to pull oven out and check wiring ,thermo etc; this problem seems to come and go, will work for months then suddenly return.....baffled!! thanks both for your comments
