telscopic bottle trap

Hello

I am not a plumber so please advise.
I have installed a telescopic bottletrap for a basin sink. I have discovered that water is leaking between the bottle and the telescoped tube.

Is this a faulty bottle section (am I missing a seal) etc. As I thought you just screw it in adjust the bottle height and that's that.

There is a sealing ring in there.

Its more likely to be leaking at the seal to the basin and running down !!!
