When the central heating is on I find that downstairs is nice and warm but go upstairs it is very cold.

Can anyone please offer me any suggestions as to why this may be the case and how to resolve the problem? This is quite urgent as I have just had a baby and having to sleep downstairs at night to ensure she is kept warm not to mention winter creeping up on us.

Much appreciation.
