Temu bidet thing

Despite all the objections because of it being an illegal installation because there are no air gapped tanks supplying it, how likely is it that it gets dropped in the loo and there is potential contamination?

A big fuss over nothing.

I have one too, it's great for washing down the big sink I have when it gets full of little hairs after a shave etc.

Fix the leak and move on, no matter what you do your mate is going to use one, there are thousands of them installed in houses in the U.K.
"Thousands of people break the law and risk serious contamination of the dining water supply, so it's fine for me to do it too" isn't the argument you think it is

You have a sink in your bathroom? :)

The law is there because drinking sh*t isn't very good for you, or your neighbours.

Every day people break the "law", going to/from work or the shops in their cars, walking the dog etc.

Your not going to drink anything other than what's already in the water.
So far I have heard no reports of anyone having contamination issues through using a bidet spray.

And yes all plumbers are dodgy, as are electricians and other tradesmen/women.
They will do the least the quickest they can for the most they can get paid, not met one that will do any different yet.

In that case, leave it for someone else to make alterations to an illegal install.

I did show him the suggestions to bin it. He has decided to get the original plumber back to sort it out.

No longer my problem.

I still do not understand how one is supposed to sufficiently tighten the chrome male part. Even my mini Boa strap would be too wide to tighten it.

Meh, not my problem anymore though.

Bazzlegette would be if he discovered that his great grandson was responsible for bringing Big Brother to UK telly.

That's a mistake he would never have been able to foresee...
But, for future society to risk repeating cholera outbreaks via contamination of the potable water supply, he was knighted to eradicate, is pure ignorance and we have forgotten the voice of our fathers!
