The authority of EU law in Britain will end.

Apart from when it doesn't. What with us having to work to EU standards so we can trade with them. And have no say in said standards.

That isn't very democratic is it.

Do the Chinese work to EU standards? I think not, yet the EU do trade with China and seem to have no problem with them .

stuff that is legally sold in the Uk from china has to be CE marked for example.

But do the Chinese have to conduct their business according to EU requirements? do they have to implement EU health and safety rules, working time directive? blah, blah blah? Or do they simply manufacture their goods to comply with EU requirements? Just as they have to manufacture their goods to comply with US requirements to export to the US?

When we leave the EU I will not need to work to EU requirements as I do not export to the EU but the goods that I import and sell from Ukraine and Belarus will need to comply with British Standards..

Ha ha!

Do you think that EU standards are composed by evil alien wizards?

Or representatives from the constituent members, of which UK is (for the moment) a leading member?i

Nope, they are people like you who know nothing about anything but need to justify their positions..

..
Exactly. The EU do not impose such conditions on Chinese imports. They don't enforce their "working time directive" on China (neither do they bother much about the age of Chinese workers) So when the UK leaves, the EU shouldn't seek to impose their "take" on various EU legislations relating to work, H&S etc, but should just ensure that UK manufactured goods meet EU requirements on quality, safety, materials, etc.
