The Bell hotel. Looks like it’s set a precedent.

We've managed to show pride for centuries without the latest display. What's changed?

Mass displays of flags are historically connected with a slide into nationalism.

It is true though, so why not (y)
Can’t remember labour saying "If we get in, we won’t be able to do anything because of the previous government" or words to that effect. I seem to remember them talking about making difficult decisions to fill a £22b black hole left by the Tories after 14 years of "broken government". Now they have made those decisions and fùcked over just about everyone that didn’t vote for them, they are saying there’s now a £50b black hole. Where did the extra £28b black hole come from in just over a year of a labour government?

The previous shower ran up £22 billion overspending while STILL running the country into the ground.

Labour's additional spend is attempting to put right what your darlings wouldn't (despite spaffing biblical amounts of bunce up the wall).

Succinct enough for you?

Not really. The point of addressing an overspend in my mind is to reduce it, not double it and then some whilst still claiming it a success.

The few times I’ve been into NI you can tell from the UJ’s which area you are in. I’m sure the gammons would be triggered by Pallystinian flags

It's not rocket science. I actually agree with Nige on this. When the numbers coming in annually were much lower, this enabled both the system to cope (processing applications etc) and allowed for more gradual assimilation.

With numbers ramping up, what the feck did government think was going to happen? The proverbial worm is turning.

Someone summed it up nicely on tv the other night. As soon as government saw the numbers creeping up, something should have been done. But no, don't be silly. Let the issue build and build until it reaches a critical stage that's 100 x more difficult to address.

Pathetic.

What? All very well moaning about if you have no idea what should be done.

Migration is substantially down this year, the "system" is now more able to cope.
