The eagle has landed.

But Ankara has been accused of holding up exports to other European countries, including to Italy, Spain and Belgium this month, often leading to high-level diplomatic intervention to secure the supply.

Blame game. I quoted what the health minister said during the brief. The other comment via beeb or c4 can't remember which.

Politics in general, Brexit and CV19 handling - some famous politicians about too, Farage on guitar.

Maybe there was a problem with getting an aircraft that could carry the load. Then getting authorisations and permissions for a military aircraft to land in Turkey and overfly other European countries on the round trip.
As I understand it they'd lined up three RAF transports. They have them laying around just in case they're needed.

It's not as if this would be the first time the RAF has stopped off in Turkey. They were dropping aid off there in March.

You have a top grasp on how the RAF works....
I could point out the RAF have plans to provide airlift for troops and supplies at very short notice using dedicated logistics staging facilities.

Or I can say they've got them laying around just in case.

You could try adding to a discussion for once, just for a change, rather than spitting bile at everything you see.

Chief of defence staff said that this current situation has been the most difficult logistics operation he has ever been involved in

The army is only around 80k these days. Of that you've got the Really Large Corps who'd be doing most of the lifting and shifting and there's only 14k of them. Even with those 14k someone still has to stack blankets so you can't make use of all of them.

Thankfully they aren't being shot at, so it's easier than a lot of their normal jobs, but the scale is unprecedented in living memory.
