On my home page I have loads of news stories and articles from loads of news pedlars, both home and abroad. They all have a discussion bit where you can post a comment in response to the article, that is, except for "The Guardian" (mainly) There (see what I did there) reply section is almost always blocked, as if they have something against free speech. Another similar, but not quite as bad is "The Independent". Does anyone else find this a bit strange?

As far as I remember - it's been a few months since I subscribed - lots of Telegraph readers make the same complaint in that paper's comments section.

I think it's most likely to be down to too few moderators. Here's the latest snapshot showing the ones you can comment on.

Not strange at all, the Left are very much against opinion or freedom of speech if it doesn't align with their own thoughts.
Virtually all the comments are going to be by the type of reader of any such outlet. So we know what the Mail will contain, whereas the Guardian is a bit more open for example.

I don't agree with comment sections, it's never worth reading. the articles should provoke thought, not copycat support

Some articles are blocked to avoid the kind of rigmarole that goes on in here - otherwise it's an open forum.
