I've not used self-leveler may times, and to be honest I find I'm not particularly good at it - although very few other DIY tasks present a problem.

What I'm wondering is, why sometimes when I buy a bag of SL the instructions tell me to 'add water', then other times the powder comes with a 5lt bottle of latex?

Just spent a small fortune on 'countless' bags of SL with bottles of latex (about £18 a go), only to see the water based SL in B&Q for about £7.

Am I wasting my money?

Incidently it's going over under floor heating.

And I want it dead FLAT !!!

There a lot of different types, that go over different sub floors.
A good one over underfloor heating is called level flex which is a water mix.
Seeing as your in Liverpool if you go in a flooring trade shop called Jedens in west derby they will sell to the public .

Its on west derby rd, the corner of baker st. Just say Daz from eclipse flooring sent you in.
They do a few different screeds.
