The rich got much richer, resulting in falling standards of living for ordinary citizens.how do you feel it went?
Trump wants to accelerate that….and you are applauding

Trumps approach has been simple, just take a sledge hammer to it.
He could have used a scalpel instead.
Are you a marxist, thats a great analysis. You've almost got the jist of what's been happening after 40 years of globalisation, globalisation that promised cheap goods for the masses and higher paid jobs to pay for those goods. Didn't happen did it? The rich got exponentially richer and the poor got poorer, globalisation of 'Labour markets' exacerbated that trend even further.
The West has done exceptionally well out of getting Chinna to manufacture its goods, for example I pay less now for 2kg sds drill tnan i did 30 years ago.Pre covid some of the wealthiest attending Davos spoke about how to slowly partially unwind globalisation for fear of eventual civil unrest. Nobody knew how to go about it, in the meantime, China became increasingly wealthy and richer while the West grew poorer.
Thats not simplicity, its bully boy business tactics which Bejing is standing up to.Trumps approach has been simple, just take a sledge hammer to it.
I don't know if this approach will work, I doubt he does either. If it doesn't work, the West will eventually be subserviant to China, Russia, Iran and N.Korea.
Good luck with that.

What the West needs to do is ensure there is a fair balance between extreme wealth and poverty. As a low tax economy compared to Europe we are unlikely to achieve that. The privatisation of steel is a good example of the consequences of blindly applying free market principles. We are economically less powerful than Chinna, we just need to avoid letting them control our steel and nuclear infrastructure. They are in it for the long game, their reaction to Trumpf is just a hint of what they are capable of doing.
This is the sad and frustrating thing. If our world 'leaders' genuinely wanted to live peacefully and to benefit their citizens as far as possible, the world could be a much better place. All these countries working together for mutual benefit could make the world a better place, America under Trump has chosen confrontation rather than co operation, which has made the world worse rather than better.
Far rage’s political observations, if not his policies, are a lot like Tony Benn’s were in many respectsThree paragraphs disagreeing with me and the final paragraph backing up everything I said.
The rich got exponentially richer and the poor got poorer…..because voters kept on voting in Conservatives and Republicans, oh and Brexit. The rich got exponentially richer and the poor got poorer, globalisation of 'Labour markets' exacerbated that trend even further
Utter bollax. Trump is as much for globalisation as anyone, He just wants the US (billionaires) to be the main beneficiary at a cost to everyone else. Seems like no one wants to play ball. China have more or less told him to fúck off.Trumps approach has been simple, just take a sledge hammer to it.
Trump is as much for globalisation as anyone,
China have more or less told him to fúck off.
Nonsense. He's in the process of dismantling globalisation.
Having kept it going all these years. Our steel industry was bu99ered long ago.We wont, despite the fact a week ago they almost succeeded in destroying what little was left of our steel industry
Oh. Does that mean Trumps kick-backs and Boris's funding came directly from China?, and despite the fact it's no longer an open secret that they're funding Russia and Iran.
You don't have friends in business. However in answer to your question - we need China to manufacture our goods cheaply - yes.Do you really think China are our friends.
