the trade war heats up: China stops exports of gallium, germanium, antimony, graphite, and tungsten to USA

Democracies allow the rejection (or prosecution) of their leaders.
You say that but U.K. and USA hardly have democracies.

In the U.K. we’ve had 45+ years of neo liberalism

USA is no democracy, elections are just a choice between 2 billionaires and 2 right wing parties.

Trump is getting away with destroying democracy pretty successfully at the moment

Exactly, I'd replace the word 'bullying' with 'incentivising'
I wouldn't. Megalomaniac Trump is imposing tariffs, simply because he can.
Or do you think Globalisation has been a success?
If buying goods cheaply is its aim, the yes. A massive success. I agree it's a double edged sword just like the internet or progress/modernisation.
Luddites apart - who wants to revert back to paying two months wages for a washing machine.

But declaring war in Democratic countries circumvents those democratic principles.
Poo tin now gets Trump's support for his land grab. That's what invading neighbours gets you these days.

Well that's democracy, for all its faults.
Supposedly the safeguards of the 'people' feeling disenfranchised and dissatisfied were built-in to the system.
But democracies have alway been able to mislead the electorate.

You can fool some of the people........etc,

As long as you are fooling more than half the people, you'll be home and dry.

He doesn't mention $180 billion annual profits, probably more to do with why they've offshored everything to China.

They wouldn't be making those sorts of profits if the products were crap.
Like them or not, Apple products are quality. You can't dispute that.
They're not thrown together from scraps in sheds, by Chinese peasants.

While the UK car industry was - between striking - producing garbage in the seventies, the Japs were producing reliable quality.

We still have people bemoaning the fact that we no longer dig up our own coal and extract our own oil, ignoring that these have been yesteryear's energy sources for a long time.

We don't learn.

And Boeing now has a fire sale of new aircraft which China refused to accept delivery.

Your link suggests otherwise. China represents 10% of a backlog, there really is no shortage of buyers.

Ortberg said China was the only country where Boeing was facing this issue and the planemaker would redirect new jet supply to other customers eager for earlier deliveries due to a global shortage of new commercial planes.

"Customers are calling, asking for additional airplanes,"

Trump is isolating America.

If the West is to come out on top, it needs to work together not fight.

USA + EU + U.K. can help stop China coming out on top

USA + EU economy is way bigger than China

You don't mention India?

10% of $8B is a fair chunk of lost income. ($800,000,000)

And the rosy picture was painted by Boeing in response to an analysts questions.
Of course they're going to dismiss it as little concern, They don't want to spook the markets.
Boeing took the rare step of publicly flagging the potential aircraft sale during an analyst call on Wednesday, saying there would be no shortage of buyers in a tight jet market.
"Customers are calling, asking for additional airplanes," CFO Brian West said. Such negotiations are usually kept tightly under wraps.

And there is potential for other countries to react similarly.

Even without China, they still have a backlog of orders and a full order book, ditto Airbus.

Why shouldn't China come out on top.
Is there any law that says America and Europe should have the number one spot as of right.

China are already taking steps to alleviate the petro dollar, pushing for the yuan to be used in world trade.
In answer to your question, no, there is no law saying China can't come out on top, it's more than possible they will, my concern is the company they keep.
If you want the balance of power in the Middle East to shift from Saudi and Israel toward Iran, or Putin to have free reign to advance into Europe, then China is the perfect choice for you.

It aint mine.

Boeing’s commercial aircraft order and delivery figures tumbled last year as the US company worked through a manufacturing crisis that hobbled its operations and struck another reputational blow.

Last year also marked another during which competitor Airbus significantly bested Boeing in new orders received and jets delivered.

I'd suggested the loss of a 5,000 order for new planes is a significant chunk of their order book, and will wipe out their backlog of orders.

Airbus landed more orders last year, so both companies are in a highly competitive market.
Such a loss of 5,000 planes ordered, orders that will probably be transferred to Airbus, (France and Netherlands) will be causing much concern.

I didn't say I want China , the Middle East or Iran to come out on top.
Trump likes a deal, if China or any other country for that matter can offer the world a better deal economically, then why shouldn't they come out on top.

Ultimately it will be up to consumers worldwide who they want to deal with.
Tarrifs are a legitimate tool to defend your economy from unfair competitors.
However Trump has weaponised tarrifs to damage the economies of other countries, instead of using them to redress trade imbalances, he is using
them to blackmail other countries to cease trade with China, even if the economies of those countries are also damaged.

Irrelevant diversion.
